Aerial weapons

I was reading this BBC news.

I think for non superpowers to go into war, it will probably be decided by who can first bomb the shit out of the other side.

Drones, glide bombs, and all more conventional aerial weapons... As the defence side on the ground, I feel, it's just impossible to counter them. Even if the ground defence side owns big guns, cannons, etc., it would be useless coz it's just damn hard to shoot a basketball flying thru the sky at 80+ kmph.
